Roy Harold Kotila
Roy Harold Kotila of Ukiah passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at a local convalescent hospital. Born July 5, 1924 in San Francisco, Roy graduated from Ukiah High School, served his country in the U.S. Maritime Service (Merchant Marines) and has lived in the area for the past 76 years. He was an electrical contractor and owned Ukiah Electric Company.
Roy cherished his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a real outdoor person. He had a love for traveling, in the country from the big tall trees to the small streams, he loved it all, especially the camping in the meadow at Comptche. Roy was a life and 50 year member of Ridgewood Masonic Lodge #146 F. & A. M., life and 50 year member of Royal Arch Masons of California, Past High Priest Member of Kingsley Augusta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Patron, 50 year and life member.
Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Kotila of Ukiah, cousin Scott Hulbert (Sharon) of Santa Rosa, cousin Sandy West of Oregon, niece Gladys Hammers (Dan) of Brigham, Utah, brother-in-law Larry Morehead (Donna) of Rio Dell, California, nephews Steven Morehead of Rio Dell and Kevin Morehead (Teresa) of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents Terho and Anna Kotila and cousins Sylvia Vee Hulbert (Austin).
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Ridgewood Masonic Center, 205 West Perkins Street, Ukiah, CA. 12 NOON POTLUCK LUNCHEON with services to follow.
