Obituary:
Jack Kummert died at home in Ukiah on April 13, 2010 at the age of 82. He
was born in San Jose, CA on October 3, 1927 to parents Gus Kummert and
Florence Kummert. In 1934 his family relocated to Santa Rosa where Jack
attended Elementary School, Junior High School, High School and Santa Rosa
Junior College. During his High School years he was certified as an Eagle
Scout, an accomplishment of which he was very proud.
At Junior College Jack met Betty Leash and they were married on July 10,
1949. At that time Jack went to work for American Trust Company (a bank)
which was later merged with Wells Fargo Bank. During his early years with
the bank he became a member of the Santa Rosa 20-30 Club. He was elected
President of the Santa Rosa Club in 1952 and held various offices until he
was elected International President of Active 20-30 Club in 1961.
In 1965 Jack was transferred to the new Wells Fargo branch in Ukiah, CA.
He retired as Vice President Manager of the Ukiah Branch in 1992 after 41
years with Wells Fargo. After retiring he spent a great deal of his time
working in his zinfandel vineyard until his health would not allow him to
continue. Jack was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Angels Parish and
served as a member of the Building Committee for the new Church and Parish
Hall which was completed in 1999. Jack also served as a Director of the
Willow County Water District for 26 years.
Jack is survived by his wife Betty Leash Kummert of Ukiah; son Erik
Charles Kummert of Ukiah; sister Karen Kummert Noland and brother-in-law
Mike Noland and niece Denis Noland, all of Klamath Falls, OR., and nephews
Martin Noland and wife Tracey Noland of Medford, OR., and Scott Noland and
wife Nicole Noland of Medford, OR., sister-in-law Jacqueline Leash Magowan
of Santa Rosa, CA., nephew Bruce Magowan of SanFrancisco, CA and nephew
Blair Magowan and wife Julie Magowan and children Ross Magowan and Heather
Magowan, all of Rancho Cordova, CA.
Jack was preceded in death by his father Gus Kummert and mother Florence
Kummert, father-in-law Noble Leash and mother-in-law Mildred Leash.
Jack requested that no funeral services be held. Arrangements are under
the direction of Eversole Mortuary, Ukiah CA.
