Fredrick Fritz Kuny
Graveside services for Fred Fritz Kuny will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery in Boonville. Afterwards, a memorial will be held at the Boonville Fairgrounds. Fritz passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 surrounded by his family.
Fritz was born on August 28, 1933 in Montesano, Washington. He began working in the woods as a logger when he was 16 years old with Don Philbrick in Comptche. Later on he worked for Shusters Logging. He spent 62 years of his life working in the woods. After retiring, Fritz spent four years fighting forest fires with Ben Sale of Redding, California.
Throughout his life, Fritz has lived in Mendocino County. He lived in Comptche most of his life and graduated from Mendocino High School, where he met his first wife, Wanda Sorper. After 39 years of marriage, Wanda passed. Fritz remarried in 1992 to Darlene Fullbright. They were married 18 ½ years until Fritzs recent passing.
Fritz is survived by his wife, Darlene Kuny of Boonville, and his sisters, Lorna Chance of Mendocino and Inez Kuny of Redwood Valley. He is also survived by his children Jerry and Lisa Kuny of Napa, Danny and Tammy Kuny of Hopland, Judy and Don Blake of Ukiah, Melissa Watkins Kuny of Stigler, OK, William Kuny of Ukiah, Jonnie and Dana Mize of Ukiah, Tia Trumble of Boonville, Pam and Gary Villa of Springfield, MO, Lloyd and Paula Mason of Springfield, MO, and Lowell and Amy Mason of Springfield, MO. Fritz is survived by numerous grandchildren as well as great grandchildren.
The family thanks everyone who was involved in Fritzs life. Instead of purchasing flowers, donations to the Anderson Valley Health Center or Phoenix Certified Hospice of Mendocino County would be greatly appreciated.
