Obituary:
MaryAnn (Knight) Leggett passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family on Sunday, October 21, 2012. She was most proud of her son Willard Butch Leggett and the light of her life her grandson Michael Alan Leggett. She loved to surround herself with pictures of her son and grandson and was at her happiest when she could be with both of them.
MaryAnn was born on November 24, 1942 to Minerva Campbell Knight and Kenneth Knight. MaryAnn was raised with her siblings and cousins at the Pinoleville Rancheria in Ukiah. MaryAnn had a very large family and is survived by her son Willard Butch Leggett, grandson Michael Alan Leggett, and daughter-in-law Elaine of Ukiah, Brother Michael Knight of Willits and his wife Gale, Sister Elizabeth Lauteren of Toppenish WA, Twin Brother Kenneth Barney Knight Jr of San Francisco, nieces Valerie and Dawn, nephews John, Dean, Mike, and Gary. She is also survived by beloved cousins Loretta Nan Maize, Herbert Wright Jr. his wife Lyn and their children Tracy Williams and Travis Wright Aunts Pauline Lockart and Esther Lockhart and numerous cousins and extended family.
MaryAnn never learned how to drive and had many friends and family that would often take her anywhere she needed to go. She was a proud woman and never wanted to ask for help, but thanks to the kindnesses of friends, co-workers and family she knew she had many people that would help her when she needed anything. MaryAnn was a generous woman and would do anything she could to help you if you needed it. She lived in Santa Rosa for the last 9 years and worked at Sonoma County Indian Health for nearly 30 years. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers and her friends.
MaryAnn enjoyed playing softball when she was young, and loved to watch baseball on tv. She was a New York Yankees fan since she was a teenager, but also enjoyed watching the San Francisco Giants with her son and grandson, and often teased them both that the Yankees were a better team. She enjoyed watching football and was a Steelers fan, but would always end up rooting for whatever team was winning. MaryAnn will be greatly missed and would want us all to remember her with a smile. A viewing will be held at Eversole Mortuary on Tuesday October 30, 2012 from 2-8pm with a private family burial on Thursday November 1, 2012 at 11am A memorial will be announced at a later date.
