Linda J. Holmes

With family at her side, Linda Holmes, a native of Ukiah passed away on June 29, 2024 in Santa Rosa, CA. Linda was born December 9, 1943 to William and Mary Davis. Linda spent nearly her entire life in Ukiah, attending the Albertinum school and graduating from Ukiah High School in 1961. Linda met James Holmes while they were at Ukiah High, marrying in February 1963. They briefly lived in Santa Rosa until James was drafted into the Army. Not wanting to be apart, Linda moved to Berlin, Germany to be close to James. 

After returning to the US and the birth of their son, Tim. The small family settled back in Ukiah, later welcoming their daughter Jennifer. Linda worked at a couple local banks, then later as a bookkeeper in the lumber industry with her sister Nancy, finishing her career with the County of Mendocino, retiring in 2005. Linda briefly moved to Los Angeles to be with her daughter and her family. Missing friends and her hometown too much, she returned to Ukiah after a couple of years. She lived the last year of her life in Santa Rosa.  

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Davis, her husband James in 2001 and her sister Nancy Davis-Bowers in 2006. She is survived by her sons Tim Holmes and Rodrigo Zuniga of Santa Rosa, daughter Jennifer Baughman and her husband Steve of Los Angeles. Linda also leaves four grandsons, Adam, Jonah, Zachary and Will, as well as her sister Debra Krohn and close cousins Pauline Ruddick, Donald & Esther Green and Ron & Lynda Puccinelli and many lifelong friends.  

Services will be on Saturday, July 13th at 3pm at Eversole Mortuary in Ukiah. As Linda was not a fan of formal funerals, this will be an informal gathering of family and friends to connect and reminisce.
