Obituary:
Violet Amelia Long passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on July 26, 2015 at Holy Spirit Residential Care Home. Violet was born in London, England in 1925. She attended the public school system in London up to the age of fourteen when Britain was forced to enter World War II. She gained employment at Marshall Snellgroves as a dress maker, and at age of 16 she went to work for the Metropolitan Electric Board. She lived in London during the war years. At the age of 19 she met the love of her life, an American GI David Clark Long. They were married in 1945 in England, and she entered America in 1946, arriving on the Queen Mary with many other European war brides. Dave and Violet moved to Ukiah in 1951 and raised their family here. Violet worked here in Ukiah at Willow Water Company. During this time she was also active in the League of Womens Voters, Emblem Club, and she volunteered for Hospice. Violet leaves behind her daughter Karen Moon and son-in-law John Moon, son Lenard Long and daughter-in-law Jacque Long, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. At her request there will be no services.
