Obituary:
Carmen Lucchesi
Mom has left her family on earth to join her family in heaven. She is good now. She left us on Sunday, June 15, 2014. She had recently turned 99 years old. Born in Oakland, California on April 18, 1915, she spent her early childhood years in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In her teen years, she spent summers and more in the Clear Lake area. This is where she met her husband to be; Joe Lucchesi: on the dance floor of course. Joe and Carmen were known to be two of the best dancers in Ukiah. And they never missed a Friday, Saturday or Sunday dance.
After marrying in 1935, they settled in Talmage. Raised grapes and pears and 3 boys. She worked 33 years at the Mendocino State Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joe and her son Dennis.
She enjoyed music, dancing, concerts, taking rides, going out to dinner, traveling, talking on the phone with and spending time with family and friends.
After Joes death, she volunteered at the Ukiah Senior Center. She excelled at organizing the Saturday night dances. They were never better. She booked the music that got the dancers on the floor. She loved it and was proud of it too.
She got to spend these past 30 years traveling the country, Hawaii and Europe with family and on Senior Center sponsored trips.
She will be remembered by all as a great lady who liked to dance and have her fun. She enjoyed her occasional brandy old fashion as well.
She is survived by her son Don (Raylene) of Talmage, daughter-in-law Paula Lucchesi, son David (Sandi) of Walnut Creek. She is also survived by her grandchildren Denise Lucchesi, Dina Collins, Dustin Lucchesi, Dinelle Lucchesi, Danya Lucchesi, Danica Ferry (Bryan), Dara Lucchesi, great grandchildren, Heather Cameron (Kevin), Paige Cameron, Kadin Ferry, Brooke Ferry, Dallen Collins, Delana Collins, Devin Collins, great great grandchild Aiden Deip, step-grandchildren Amy Harville (Kevin), Jill Richards (Pete), step great grandchildren Dalton Harville, Blake Harville, Sydney Richards, Griffen Richards, Bowen Richards, Kruse Richards.
Funeral services for Carmen will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Interment will follow at Ukiah Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
