Richard Eugene Madden
Ukiah Richard Eugene Madden, age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Born in Orange, California on December 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Emma Hecht and Buster Madden. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Madden. Surviving Brother Raymond Madden and wife Janet, Surviving Aunts; Ruby Blaylock and Edna Gregory.
Richard loved the water, gardening, sports, westerns and this country. He began his love for the water at an early age, as an avid swimmer and competitive high rise diver. As a teenager he was a Sea Scout- part of the international Scouting movement with an emphasis on sailing and canoeing. He later joined the Navy and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during war time. After serving in the armed forces, Richard spent over 20 years in law enforcement with both the Tustin Police Department and Mendocino Sheriffs Department and then as a respected business owner for Rotor Rooter in Ukiah, California.
A dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Richard cherished his family as they meant the world to him. He was always concerned about everyone and opened his home to those in need. His humor, compassion and vivacious spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Donna Madden of Ukiah; his seven children and their families: Donna Bristol and her husband, Wes from Magalia; Vicky Owen and her husband Dave of Live Oak; Shawn Madden of Ukiah; Dawn Madden of Upper Lake, Loretta Davis of Ukiah, Patricia Davis of Garden Grove, CA, preceded in death by Robert Davis of Garden Grove, CA, and 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016. A private Interment will be at 1:00pm at Russian River Cemetery with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Ukiah, followed by refreshments;
