Lawrence Domingo Martinez Sr.
August 20, 1935 - June 10, 2012
Passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2012 in Redwood Valley with his loving family by his side.
Lawrence was also known as Mahungus was born to Rose Trippo and Martin Martinez Sr. in Sebastopol Ca on August 20, 1935.
Lawrence was a loving father to Loretta Martinez, Rosanne Martinez, Carla Gutierrez, Martin Martinez, Tanya Estrada, Lenora Williams, Lawrence Martinez Jr., & Floyd Dollar.
He is survived by his brother David Martinez, and sister Juanita Manzo, numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great grandson, He was loved for many years by his girlfriend Rachel Grant who he called his Girley.
Lawrence proceeded into death by his beautiful wife Evangeline Martinez, his daughters Laura , Yolanda, Rhonda, & Florenda Martinez, his brothers Martin, Paul, & Sam Martinez
Lawrence was a Friendly type a guy a hard worker he worked for years as a field laborer and loved life to the fullest. He was a proud tribal decendent of the Alexander Valley Mishewal Wappo Tribe. Mahungus will be a legend in our family he was a loving father and an amazing grandpa. He loved all his children and grandkids. He was a great cook and is famous for his Sametha bread. His sense of humor and jokes kept our family full of good medicine. Watch out for his Cobras Mahungus was always willing to lend a helping hand he had so many good friends and stories. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Family will gather for Wake Services all night starting on Thursday June 14, 2012 at 12 noon to Friday June 15th 3:00pm at The Redwood Valley Rancheria Tribal Office 2301 Road I, Redwood Valley Ca 95470.
His body will be taken to Eversole Mortuary on June 15, 2012 at 3:00pm -6:00pm viewing will be held followed by the Rosary at the Eversole Mortuary 6:00pm.
Monday June 18, 2012 at 11:00am Graveside Services at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Family is welcome at 12:30pm and encouraged to bring a dish for a Pot Luck at the Sonoma County Indian Health., to celebrate his life.
