Lucille Catherine Mayfield passed away on December 6, 2012 surrounded by family and friends after an unexpected illness. Lucille was born in Oklahoma on December 5, 1930 and relocated to Ukiah, California where she resided for over 50 years. Lucille was proud of her Native American culture and was proud to share her knowledge with her family and friends.
She married Ross Mayfield Sr. in 1948, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was active in the family businesses and her main role was as a mother and homemaker. Lucille was proud of her family and extended family. She enjoyed living life, travelling, gambling, having large family gatherings, and helping others.
She will always be remembered for her generosity, honesty, kindness, acceptance, hospitality, love for children, and love for her miniature daschund Chewy Taco.
She survived by her sons Bill Mayfield, Ron Mayfield, Ross Mayfield Jr., Roger Mayfield, and Rick Mayfield, and many other foster-children. Sister -Anita Jenkins, brothers -Dallas Miller, Udale Miller, and James Miller, eighteen grandchildren, and 23.5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rachel and Henry Miller, her sons Rodney Mayfield, and foster-son Claude Phillips, sisters-Louise Parker, and Wynema Sloan, brother-Bob Miller.
A special thank you to Judy Taylor, her beloved niece for always being by her side, from beginning to end.
Viewing will be held Saturday, December 8th from 4-6pm at Eversole Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on December 10th at 11 am at Eversole Mortuary with burial to follow at Russian River Cemetery in Ukiah, California. A celebration of life will follow the burial at Lucilles home at 301 Sanel Drive, Ukiah, California.
