Pearl Olive McConnell
Pearl Olive Beaumont McConnell age 91 died peacefully at Casa Coloma Health Care Center, Rancho Cordova, California May 28, 2013. She was born in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania to George Beaumont and Gladys Schumacher May 15, 1922. She was second of seven children. She is survived by two sisters Violet Krek, and Mary Klein, and one brother Carl Beaumont.
As a child she loved to read. This habit continued throughout her life. She was interested in any and all topics, people, and music throughout her entire life and could talk to anyone about anything.
She married Allen Victor McConnell November 15, 1940. Together they raised five children and took in a 12 year old foster son. When Allen returned home from WWII they moved to Ukiah, California and never regretted the move. They celebrated sixty years of marriage before Allen's passing in 2000. Mother loved children and homemaking. She always said her family was her first priority, but her kitchen was her second priority. She loved to prepare large meals for friends and family with kitchen resembling an inn or bakery most times. We never knew who might show up at our supper table from one day to the next, but Mom was always prepared. She was involved in school, Methodist church activities, cub/boy scouts, brownies/girl scouts, auxiliaries, and Easter Star. Mother cooked for the Mendocino Lake Clubhouse and Dad was the maintenance and grounds keeper. They seemed happiest in this setting and loved being part of the Shriner's family after retirement.
A Wife,
A Mother,
A grandmother,
A Great Grandmother too.
This the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight.
You gave us strength, you have us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find.
And in your heart your were always fair and kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another.
Not just as a wife, Not just as a Mother.
For all of us you gave your best.
Now the time has come for you to be released
From you Alzheimer's and finally rest.
So go in peace you have earned your sleep
Your love in hearts, we will eternally keep.
