Obituary:
Janice Lucille (Houghton) McDade went to join her beloved Mac in the House of the Lord surrounded by loving family on Thanksgiving Day November 22, 2018. She was born in Portland, Oregon October 8, 1931, the 2nd of 4 children born to Janice and Dwight Houghton. She moved to Medford, Oregon as a young child and lived there until she married Elmer McDade. She went to the University of Oregon and was a Duck for one semester till she caught pneumonia and was sent home. Throughout her life she was a devout Episcopalian and worked with the ladies of the church in their many endeavors to help those in need. As a loving homemaker she was a Girl Scout leader for her daughters and was always home when her children arrived from school. After they grew up she was among the first employees of Myers Apothecary and worked there until she retired. When she was younger she enjoyed playing golf and tennis but as she grew older was involved with oil painting and volunteering, such as being a docent at the Sun House. She was an active member of the Ukiah Garden Club until she could no longer drive herself to meetings. Her final years were spent in her house on the hill watching people and the wildlife go by. She loved her friends and neighbors but cherished her solitude, and constantly thanked her family for their loving care. She is predeceased by her parents Dwight and Janice, husband Elmer, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy (Bob) Johns, brother-in-law Alf Guldahl and grandson Matthew Poor. She is survived by her siblings Harriett Guldahl, Marcia (Dick) Padgham, David (Debbie) Houghton and all their children.
