Obituary:
James Irving Menzmer, 83, of Ukiah passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Sacramento, Ca. James was born August 18, 1929 in St. Paul, MN.
James served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received a BS in Mathematics from Fresno State and a MA in Criminal Justice from Sac State. He lived in Ukiah for 38 years. James was a retired Captain with the CHP, serving 30 yrs. After retirement he served as a Bailiff at the Mendocino County Courthouse.
James was active in R/C Modeling with the Ukiah Prop Busters and as an amateur (HAM) radio operator.
His family will remember his optimism, love of God, family and his country. He served on the Church council at Grace Lutheran Church.
James is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Menzmer of Seville, Spain, sons Mitch Menzmer of Collegedale, TN. and Doug Menzmer of Sacramento, CA., grandchildren Austin, Luis, Elizabeth, Andrea, Ellie, Alison and Ed. James was preceded in death by his wife Barbara D. Menzmer in September of 2012, sisters Lois Hedrick & Bonnie Wyland.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 2-8 PM at the Eversole Mortuary. A Memorial service will be on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Grace Lutheran Church with burial at Ukiah Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
