Gilbert Lee Gil Mossi
Memorial services for Gilbert Lee Gil Mossi of Ukiah will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Gil passed away on Friday, September 15, 2011.
Born in Cloverdale on July 6, 1927, he graduated Ukiah High School and played baseball with the Talmage Sluggers. He served in World War II and was an employee at Mendocino State Hospital. Gil wore many hats in his lifetime, whether it be Crazy Googinhime at the Pomo Inn, working in a mill, owning and running bars, restaurants, a deli, catering many events or being the Hot Dog Man at Mendo Mill. He always did everything with a great sense of humor. He was also very civic minded and wrote many letters to the editor.
He is survived by his wife Mary Mossi, children Linda Rosetti and husband David, Katheryn Hewitt, David Lee Mossi of Idaho and Dean Mossi of Utah, 18 grandchildren, Christopher, Kristina, Susan, Anthony, Marla, Adam, Jennifer, Clark, Justin, Natalie, Jocelyn, Aubrey, Larissa, Ryan, Jill, Tara, Katie and Kyle and many great grandchildren. Also his favorite niece and nephew Peggy Drake and Bobby Mossi. He was preceded by his parents Achille and Amelia Mossi, brother Robert Mossi and sister Geneva Gibson.
