Obituary:
Long time Ukiah resident, James Myler, passed away August 29, 2012, after a lengthy illness. For almost nine years he received loving medical attention provided by the wonderful staff at Ukiah Health Care. Jim was just short of his 88th birthday and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Claire Myler, his three childrenMylette Welch, Larry Myler, and Randy Myler, his stepdaughter, Sharon Strawhand Garner, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Jims career with the telephone company (Pacific Telephone and Telegraph back then) spanned over 30 years. After retirement Jim enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, catching abalone, meeting retired friends for coffee, and entertaining family and friends with enormous feasts cooked from scratch. Though he possessed a calm and quiet demeanor he enjoyed a reputation for being well read, quick witted, and spontaneously funny. He was a charming, delightful gentleman who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
