Obituary:
Jacquelyn P. (Jackie) Newcomb
April 24, 1923 – April 21, 2011

Jackie passed away peacefully April 21, 2011, three days before her 88th birthday, at Ukiah Valley Medical Center with her daughter Patti and son-in-law Jeff by her side.
Jackie was born in Milford, Delaware on April 24, 1923, to Maurice and Jessie Parks. She lived her younger life in the Philadelphia area before joining the Marine Corps in 1943. She soon moved to California and worked in the financial district in San Francisco after leaving the Marines in 1944. She married Earl Newcomb on December 16, 1955 and they moved to Redwood Valley where they lived for the last 50 years. She had moved to Brookside Retirement Home in June of 2009 where she resided until March of this year.
She had been a housewife most of her life but had worked at the old Ukiah General Hospital as the switchboard operator for some time.
Jackie is survived by her daughter Patti Wright and her husband Jeff of Ukiah, her grandson Jamie, his wife Wendy and her great grandchildren Jaimee Lee and Dalton all of Granite Bay, Ca. Jackie is also survived by her very loving and caring sister-in-law Irene Voreis and her husband Bill of Ukiah. She had an extremely close and very special bond with her nieces and her nephew, Donna Boot and her husband Richard of Florida, Teresa Voreis of Oregon, Debbie Voreis of Ukiah, Connie Pires and her husband Robert of Eureka, and Loren Voreis and his wife Janet of Alton, Ca. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl who passed away in 1992 and her brother Maurice of Delaware who passed away in 2009. She is also survived by a son, Bob.
Jackie had made many lifelong friends and will be sadly missed by so many. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Ukiah Health Care, and all the nurses and doctors who treated her with such care and concern at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Thank you also to Elizabeth at Holy Child Residential Care for her kindness during this difficult time.
Per her request there will be no services but the family will have a private memorial ceremony at which time her ashes will be scattered at the place she loved the most, her property in Redwood Valley. A celebration of her life will follow with a bar-be-que hosted by her dear friends Leslie and Melvin Ford.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in her name to the Humane Society of Redwood Valley to honor her great love for animals.
