Obituary:
Lorraine Lois Nonneman
Lorraine Lois Nonneman went peacefully to be with Jesus on December 28, 2013, surrounded by members of her loving family. Lorraine was born in Watsonville, CA to Leslie and Pearl Orr on April 1, 1927. On August 17, 1946 Lorraine married Rollin Nonneman, her sweetheart from Salinas Union High School, with whom she had corresponded through mail during his time in the Flying Tigers during World War II.
Lorraine gave birth to two sons, Stephen and Dennis in 1947 and 1950 respectively and became the ideal housewife in post-war Salinas.
The family relocated to Santa Cruz in 1954, where she enjoyed the warm days at the beach with her sons, awaiting the love of her life to join the family for an after work barbeque at Cowells beach. Her friends were many and her kind, loving spirit was infectious, and was one of the mothers in the neighborhood responsible for maintaining respect and discipline among the little rascals in the area. The punishment was hardly severe, consisting of milk and cookies, and an Im so disappointed look that hurt more than a whoopin that was never needed to be given.
When Rollin got transferred from Santa Cruz to San Francisco, the family moved to Hayward. Lorraine got involved in playing bridge, and continued for a few years until she had a four letter word pop up in her conversation with a friend. GOLF! At the tender age of 40, she started playing the game and continued until her rheumatoid arthritis forced her to grudgingly quit. During her years of playing the game, Lorraine won so many club championships, the Ukiah Womens Golf Club gave her a plaque to cover any future events she may claim. Chasing that little white ball became her passion for the rest of her life and without her the NCWGA will never be the same.
Rollin retired and the move to Ukiah was made. Rollin and Lorraine stayed once-in-a-lifetime lovers until Rollins passing in 2008. Seeing Mom without Dad did not seem natural, having been inseparable for 62 years.
Lorraine is left behind by two sons, Steve of Tocumwal NSW Australia and Dennis of Willits, two daughters in law, Anne and Allyn, five grandchildren, Jesse, Lilli, Eric, Erik, and Stuart, and five great-grandchildren with two more due in just a few weeks.
She is now fox-trotting (we werent jitter-buggers) in Glory with her one true love.
A more peaceful and kind woman could not be found. Via con Dios, Mom.
A memorial service will be held at the Ukiah First Presbyterian church Saturday, Jan 4, 2014 at 12:00 noon
