Verna was born June 28, 1912 in Ukiah, CA and passed away April 26, 2012 in Cameron Park, CA.
She grew up in Potter Valley and was the granddaughter of the John Gibson and George Griffitts families who were early settlers in the 1800s in Potter Valley.
Although she lived in many places over the years, she spent over 30 years as a resident of Modesto, CA before moving to the Sacramento area to be close to her daughter, Carol Novak.
Verna was an artist whose creativity was expressed in paintings, gardening and in her talents as a master seamstress.
In addition to her great love for Jesus Christ, she enjoyed attending Bible studies, gatherings with family, and in her earlier years, traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She was proud of that fact that she had visited 48 states mostly with her husband in their little travel trailer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace Gibson, her beloved husband of 53 years, Howard Paige, and four brothers, Clarence, Robert, Albert, and Donald Gibson.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Paige Novak of El Dorado Hills, sister, Dorothy Brooks Bunsey of Ukiah, granddaughter, Nancy Cline (Rex) of Modesto, Russell Novak (Mary Anne) of San Diego, and Steven Novak (Jennifer) of El Dorado Hills; along with eight great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service is planned for 1 PM, Saturday, May 5th at the Potter Valley cemetery. Arrangements being made through Eversole mortuary of Ukiah, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Hospice Association.
