McLaren (Mac) Parker
A memorial service for McLaren (Mac) Parker will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014, starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Russian River Cemetery on Low Gap Road in Ukiah, CA. Mac passed away on Monday, May 5th at the age of 82. Hospice of Ukiah helped support him following a stroke in March.
Mac was born on July 9, 1931, in San Francisco to Alton and Olive Parker, both long-time residents of Ukiah. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and enjoyed a long profession as a Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor for the City of Mountain View as well as Butte and Mendocino Counties. He lived on Cow Mountain Ranch near Ukiah as a child and returned to Mendocino County with Norma, his wife of 52 years, in 1978.
Mac is greatly missed by his partner of over 10 years, Shirley Weatherly. He is also survived by three loving children: Ms. Terry Parker of Davis, Mr. Jeff Parker of Elk Grove, and Mrs. Peggi Brooks of Folsom. He is also fondly remembered by five grandchildren: Naomi Gutierrez Cook, Kaley and Krista Parker, Shannon Brooks Stout, and Delaney Brooks, as well as by two great-grandchildren, Kane and Koa Cook.
Mac will be especially remembered for pride in his country and profession, love of family and home on Parker Hill, and his enjoyment of travel and life-long learning.
