Born April 28, 1945 in Heavener, OK he and his family moved to Lake County in the year Dwight W. Eisenhower was elected President. These were the growing up years that kids thought babies came from ordering them through the Sears Catalog, youth could ride their bikes and stay out all day playing in their community without fear of predators, people did not have to lock their house when they left for errands, and any concerned adult could reprimand a child without being sued if he/she was misbehaving.
George completed the first grade at Upper Lake Elementary and the remainder of his schooling in Ukiah. He owned Pinnell Construction and was a licensed building contractor most of his adult life and is a past President of the North Coast Builders Exchange. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was trained as a marksman. He was an avid sportsman and a member of the Ukiah Gun Club for almost 50 years. He was involved with trap shoot competitions as well as teaching county youth trap shooting and weapon safety. He was active as a volunteer in a number of service clubs. He was a member of the NRA. He coached roller hockey at Skate City. He spent countless hours with his granddaughter McKenzy teaching her how to skate and cruising at the car shows.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Sharon, a daughter Franke Christensen (Dan) : a son Travis, a granddaughter McKenzy Christensen and three sisters, Rachel Peugh (Ed), Shirley Pinnell, and Sarah Hollister (Dave) all of Ukiah. The remaining of his sisters and brothers (Lindth, Betty, Delbert, Joyce, Bill) as well as his parents are deceased. He leaves a large extended family of nephews and nieces and life long friends Dave Hathaway and Jim Wade.
