ALICE JEAN O’ROURKE/DICKENS/POLAN was born August 25, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Arthur Enoch and Crystal Alice Cree O’Rourke. She died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Surviving are her sons, Edward Thomas Dickens (Dorothy) and Robert Eugene Dickens (Susie), grandchildren Jason William Dickens (Angie), Scott Thomas Dickens, Ashley Nicole Dickens Ala (Matt) and Victoria Brett Dickens, great grandchildren Haley Dickens and Adrian Dickens, her very dear sister Kathleen Claire O’Rourke of Ukiah and a very dear friend, whom she has known for over 50 years, Michael W. Roberts of Ukiah.
At her request no services will be held and her ashes will be disposed of in the Pacific Ocean, Makah Indian Reservation, Neah Bay, Washington, Cape Flattery, the home of her heart.
In lieu of flowers of cards, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, Chamberlain, South Dakota, 57326 or The Community Foundation of Mendocino County – The Class of 1960 Scholarship, 290 South State Street, Ukiah, CA 95482 or Phoenix Hospice, 100 Hendrin Circle, Willits, CA 95490 in her memory. Acknowledgement of the gift may be sent to Kathleen O’Rourke, 460 East Gobbi St. #20, Ukiah, CA 95482.
