Kathleen Ann Pomilia
Kathleen Ann Pomilia, aged 63, died on July 22, 2016 at her home in Ukiah, California after a brave two year struggle with ovarian cancer. She was born September 6, 1952, in Lakeport, California the daughter of Thomas and Pauline Mitchell.
Although born in Lakeport, Kathy grew up in Novato California. As a child she loved to swim and go camping. She would often spend her summers in Ukiah, California with her aunt and cousins swimming, camping and playing. Kathy graduated from Novato High school in 1970 and then spent a few years getting her AA degree from College of Marin.
In 1973, Kathy married the love of her life Frank Anthony Pomilia Jr, and they moved to Ukiah, California where Kathy had spent so much time as a child. She would spend the next forty years or so working and raising her family there.
In addition to raising their three children Kathy spent many years helping her husband Frank who was head coach for Ukiah Lions Pop Warner. Her hard work ethic and loving support are fondly remembered to this day by the many adults who participated in the program as a child. Kathy worked for several years in the wine industry for Fetzer Vineyards. In 2004 she got her real estate license and became a realtor. Kathy loved her job helping others to find their perfect forever home and was awarded the Presidential Diamond and Sterling Award for Real Estate Production for Coldwell Banker Mendo Realty multiple years in a row.
Kathy is survived by her brother Michael Mitchell of Redwood Valley, California, her husband Frank Anthony Pomilia Jr; sons, Frankie (Sharon) Pomilia and Joey (Candace) Pomilia of Redwood Valley, California and her daughter Jessie (Nate) Burton of Ukiah, California; five grandchildren: Jacob 15, Frankie 14, Joey 7, Aubrey 4 and Brayden 2; and a number of other relatives and close friends. She is reunited in Heaven with many relatives including her beloved ten-year-old grandson DJ Pomilia whom the family lost in August of 2014.
There will be a church service for family and friends at Saint Mary of the Angels Church in Ukiah, California at noon on Tuesday, July 26th. A reception will be held immediately following the services at the churchs parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Hospice of Ukiah, Cancer Resource Center or Do It for DJ Memorial Fund at the Savings Bank of Mendocino.
