Robert George “Bob” Smith July 8, 1946 – November 23, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” George Smith, age 78, of Ukiah, California, on November 23, 2024. Born in Westwood, Plumas County, Ca on July 8, 1946, Bob spent most of his life in Mendocino County where he built a legacy of hard work and love for his family and the outdoors. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

After proudly serving in the U.S. Army, Bob made his mark as a skilled logger, working throughout Plumas and Mendocino Counties. Bob was known for his exceptional talent as an equipment operator.

Above all, Bob cherished his family. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Frances, and baby sister Mary. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila, daughters, Dana and Lorie, grandchildren, Chase, Kenzie, Kolby, and Kylie, as well as great-grandchildren, Carson and Crew. Bob’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bob had a great love for the outdoors. He was a skilled hunter who enjoyed duck, pheasant, and deer hunting, often accompanied by his loyal labrador retrievers: Widgeon, Wiley, Pete, and Inky. He also treasured spending time with his friends, whether it was hunting in the field or swapping stories by the campfire. Bob's friendships were deep, and he had a special way of making everyone feel like family.

Known for his sharp wit and his way with words, Bob had an incredible ability to tell stories that could make anyone laugh. His presence was always full of warmth, and he had a heart that made those around him feel welcome and loved. His spirit and sense of humor will live on in the stories he shared and the memories he left behind.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 27, at 2:00 PM at Russian River Cemetery in Ukiah, California.
