Obituary:
Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother Guadalupe Mendez Rojas passed away on February 13, 2021. Guadalupe was born July 26, 1929 in Mexico. She came to the United States in the late 1950s where she lived in Potter Valley California before moving to Ukiah California with her husband Salvador Rojas who passed in 2010. Most family and friends just called her Lupe. She was a strong, sweet, and a lovable woman. Lupe was well known in the Hispanic community. In the 1970s she became an active member of the Concilio Latino Americano. An Organization that helped the Hispanic Community with several types of community needs. She helped organize the first Fiestas Patrias Mexican Independence Day Celebration that crowned a queen each year. This celebration helped raise money for College Scholarships.
Lupe was also key in fundraising the very first Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe along with Mr. Pedro Lopez, Delia Delgado and Margarita Pulido to name a few. With their hard work, they were able to raise enough money to bring the portrait of the Virgen de Guadalupe which currently to this day remains at Saint Mary Catholic Church of the Angels in Ukiah, Ca. Lupe is survived by her sisters, daughter Yolanda Rojas, son Salvador Rojas Jr, Alberto Rojas, son-in-law Vladimir Alvarez, daughter-in-law Laura Melendrez. Granddaughters Lydia Rojas, Teresa Rojas, Iliana Alvarez, Bryana Alvarez. Grandson AJ Rojas. Great grandchildren Erick, Elijah and Nevaeh Gaytan, and Robert Loera. Along with many other nephews, nieces, family friends and loved ones. She will be missed dearly. May you Rest In Peace.
