Obituary:
Henry J. Ronco, age 89, of Calpella, CA. died on April 28, 2010 in Ukiah, with family members by his side. Born March 23, 1921to John and Hazel Ronco in Dry Creek, CA. Henry was a life-long resident of Mendocino County. He graduated from Hopland High School in 1940. He served in the United States Navy in World War II stationed in the South Pacific as a Medic. He married his wife Bertha (Beppy) Bakker-Matthews on January 13, 1957. Henry was in the grocery business. He owned and operated the 3R Market with his brother and brother-in-law. He worked for Safeway for 15 years until his retirement. He was honored with a plaque from Safeway Stores, Inc., for Never missing one day and never being late 1963-1983. Henry served as a board member of the Ukiah Senior Center and called Bingo at the Senior Center for years. He was also a life time member of the American Legion. Henry and his wife Beppy were members of the local Rock and Gem Club and enjoyed spending many hours in the local schools working with students making various craft items with rocks. He was most proud of being a loving husband and good provider to his family.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife Beppy Ronco, his brothers Oscar and Fred Ronco and sister Eleanor Rosetti. He is survived by his sisters Georgina Otto, Mary VanValkenburg, Jean Pena, sister-in-laws Gisella Minahan and Marita Patrick, numerous nieces and nephews and his second family the staff at Ukiah Health Care.
Henry will be remembered mostly for his ability to make people laugh, bringing a little sunshine into everyones life and his favorite quote Hold on to your hat!
No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ukiah Senior Center.
