Alexander David Rorabaugh
No services are to be held for Alexander David Rorabaugh of Hopland who passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home.
Born December 24, 1917 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania he attended Franklin High School in Johnstown, worked at the Willow Run, Michigan, B-24 bomber plant until joining the Navy Seabees in 1945 serving in Guam. He moved to Cloverdale from Michigan in 1946, then to Hopland in 1956. He was self-employed in timber, lumber and mining until retiring to his ranch in Hopland in 1956. He helped fund the Alex Rorabaugh Cultural Center in Ukiah, the Hopland firehouse and made donations to Ukiah Adventist Hospital and other community organizations. He was a member of the V.F.W.
Alex is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey L (Gillin) Rorabaugh of Hopland, sons Alec and Jerry Rorabaugh of Hopland, daughter Cheryl (Rorabaugh) Finger of Savannah, Georgia, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father William Howard Rorabaugh, mother Adella Aeschlimann, sisters Mary Lucille and Kathrine Elizabeth and granddaughter Traci Michele Finger.
Memorial contributions to Ukiah Hospice are preferred.
