Obituary:
Douglas Martin Rosoff, 56, of Ukiah passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012. Born September 9, 1955 in San Mateo, Ca. he had lived in Ukiah for the past 20 years.
Doug received his BA at Stanford University and attended medical school at Kansas City School of Osteopathic Medicine. He was Chief Psychiatrist for county mental health and recently a Psychiatrist for Ukiah Veterans Administration. Doug did his Psychiatric residency at Westchester Medical Center in New York and UC Davis. He was a prison Psychiatrist at Terrel, TX. State Hospital, Federal Correctional Institute in Rochester, MN., and a faculty member of TURO Medical School.
Doug was proud of running marathons and was an accomplished tennis player. He was offered a scholarship at Whitman College for tennis but declined. These days he enjoyed watching the grand slam from the comfort of his home.
He will be remembered for his genuine kindness, intelligence and humor.
Doug is survived by his wife of 6 years Catherine Rosoff of Ukiah, his parents Harold & Berniece Rosoff of Scottsdale, AZ., sister Leslie Westerlund of Scottsdale, AZ., and his brother Jeff Rosoff of St. Peter MN. Doug was preceded in death by his best friend and mother in law Priscilla Monahan on May 25, 2012 and his nephew David Rosoff.
A memorial service and gathering will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Lake Mendocino Club House, 1500 Lake Mendocino Dr. Ukiah, Ca. at 1:00 PM with Rabbi Shoshanah Devorah officiating.
