Obituary:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Agustina Guevara. She peacefully departed this earth December 21, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Angel Guevara in 2014. She is survived by daughters Sarah, Josefina, Ibon and Martina; and sons Sotero, Armando, Galdino (Sarah) and Juan Diego Guevara.
Also joining us in mourning are her 26 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, brothers Salvador and Elisendo; sisters Maria, Juana, Anita, Susana, Lupe (deceased), and Margarita; sons-in-law: Chris Cliburn, Martin Mendoza and Sergio Dominguez.
Agustina Ruiz Lucero was born in 1947 in Atopoltitlan, Puebla, Mexico. After meeting and marrying Angel they sought the better life in the States (Ukiah, CA). first Angel got established and then he sent for Agustina who made the harrowing trip to be with Angel. She used her keen photographic memory to cook complex, highly regarded indigenous dishes such as mole, tamales, almondigas, tortas de camarones, chile rellenos, adobo. Agustina loved cooking her distinguished dishes for her family and friends. She had a strong work ethic and worked along side Angel in intense seasonal work all the while caring for her eight kids. She is every bit as well known in the Mexican Community as was Angel. She was a loving, caring, selfless, thoughtful, kind hearted, devoted, supportive, generous, gentle mother whom was adored by her children. She will be truly missed.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 6:30 pm at Eversole Mortuary. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 12 noon at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ukiah Cemetery.
