Obituary:
Robert JT Bob Runnings of Potter Valley passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 in Williams, Ca. with his family present.
Bob was born in Alberta, Canada on September 4, 1921 and was raised in Martinez, Ca. He had lived in Potter Valley for the past 50 years.
Bob got his OTC in Champlain, Illinois. He served his country for 4 years in the Marine Corps as a Medic in the So. Pacific, Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian and Luzon. He was awarded a Bronze Star.
Bob worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. as a sales rep. and co-owned and operated the Tack Room in Ukiah for 38 years.
Bob was appointed by Gov. Reagan to the 12th Dist. Fair Board and was involved with the Potter Valley Rodeo Grounds. He announced many large rodeos and horse shows in the western states. He raised many quality Quarter Horses and was co-founder and past President of the Redwood Empire Quarter Horse Assn. Bob was a member the Sonoma Co. Trail Blazers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
The family of Bob will remember him having many friends in all walks of life. He was a Great Guy!
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Dee Runnings of Potter Valley, daughter Marti Fonsen of Potter Valley, grandchildren Brian Donald Fonsen of Healdsburg, Ca. and Katie Ann Fonsen of Sebastopol, Ca. His father Harry Runnings, mother Susie Runnings and his brothers Roy and Harry Jr. preceded him in death.
