Obituary:
James “Jim” Daniel Russell, age 65, died at his home in Ukiah on Wednesday December 8, 2010 with his family by his side. He was a resident of Ukiah area, off and on, for 20 years having lived in Brookings, OR for a few years. Jim had a Liberal Arts degree from Mendocino College. He worked at Masonite Corp. as a Mechanical Millwright. He served his country, honorably retiring from the US Navy as a Boiler Tech Chief/Instructor after 22 years. He was proud of being a grandpa, of his two daughters and his service to his country. Jim loved his bowling and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his loud rock ‘n roll and riding his VW trike. He will be remembered for always being a phone call away. Dad would just do - he’d never ask why and would be there.
Jim is survived by his daughters Danielle Jones of Ukiah and Kelly Failor of Brookings, OR, sister Valerie Witherell of Windsor, brother Terry Russell of Santa Rosa, grandchildren Matthew, Hailey and Josie Failor.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm at The Eversole Mortuary, with Father Frank Epperson from St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church officiating. Jim’s ashes will be scattered at sea by the US Navy. Arrangements under the care of The Eversole Mortuary.
