Obituary:
Richard Hunter Sand of Boonville passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Richard was born March 26, 1935 in Main.
Richard was retired, but during his working years he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Cal Trans.
Dick was proud of being a fantastic dancer, a swing band drummer, a heavy equipment operator and driving the Anderson Valley Senior Citizens Bus.
Dicks family and friends will remember him for always having something funny to say; his great jokes, and always gave people nick names. He and his late wife Lovella were involved in the Anderson Valley Communitys Activities and events, sport programs, 4-H club and being a coach of the Jr. Panthers. Dicks children will also remember him teaching them how to dance.
Richard is survived by his daughter Michele Yeoman of Mendocino, Ca. son Michael and his wife Teresa Sand of Hidden Valley Lake, Ca. grandson Mathew and his wife Bridget Sand, granddaughter Tiffany and husband Destry Hendrix, great granddaughter Isabella, step sisters Eva Johnson of Boonville, Ca. and Ethel Abreu of Cloverdale, Ca. half sister Donna Kozac of Az. Half brother Fred Throne of Hi, cousin Lillian Shrieve of Philo, Ca. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Lovella R. Sand, mother Mona Throne, father Donald Throne, sister Virginia Presley, and adoptive mother and father Walter and Evelyn Sand and step father Fred Abreu.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Boonville, Ca. with Willie Roberts officiating.
