Raymond Evans Saunders
1925 – 2016
Ray passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on January 28, 2016. He was born in San Jose, CA to P.B. and Edith Saunders. Ray leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Shirley Cheever Saunders and sister Georgia Johnston and husband William of Campbell, CA and 4 nieces and 1 nephew. After high school, he joined the Army Air Corps and served his country as a pilot in World War II. After graduating from SJSU with a degree in engineering, he worked in Silicon Valley until 1980 when he and Shirley moved to Ukiah, CA and bought the Rancho Del Rey Senior Mobile Home Park on Leslie St. and began enlarging the 49 spaces to 99. Ray retired at age 82 after selling the park.
A heartfelt thanks to all our friends for their kind words and deeds, with a special thanks to Billy Curnutt and Larry Hallman for their help and guidance. At Ray’s request there will be no public services. If you wish, a donation in his memory to one of Ukiah’s animal organizations or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
