Obituary:
Bud Shepard left this world on Feb. 11, 2013 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in the presence of family and friends. Born May 25, 1933 in San Luis Obispo, CA, Bud and his family have lived in Potter Valley for 47 years. A Korean War veteran, Bud graduated from Cal Poly SLO in 1958, spending his career as a real estate appraiser for Bank of America. He and wife Maggi were married for 54 years, have three sons, five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Bud was an avid hiker in the hills of Potter Valley. One of his accomplishments was climbing to the top of Half Dome in 1996. But his true joy was his family and close circle of friends and the time they spent together talking, laughing, and BBQing.

Bud will be remembered for his humility, generosity, integrity and wonderful sense of humor. Bud did not want formal services so there will be an informal outdoor reception at noon on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10051 West Road, Potter Valley. Please come to share a light meal and a laugh with the family. If it’s raining, please meet at the Potter Valley Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Bud’s two favorite community organizations, Potter Valley Methodist Church and Potter Valley Community Center.
