Obituary:
Douglas Eugene Simpson left this life to join his savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 6, 2013. A resident of Redwood Valley for 22 years, the former Sonoma County resident leaves behind son, Steve Simpson (Lisa) of Bakersfield, brother Gary Simpson (Shirley) of Newcastle, granddaughter Amanda Simpson, great-grandson Maximiliano Perez, niece Melanie Suddjian, and former spouses Robin Conner and Carol Simpson. Doug was pre deceased by his parents, Charles and Helen Simpson of Weaverville, California and nephew Michael Simpson. Doug was born in Richmond, California on September 5, 1944, and grew up in Novato. Upon graduation from Novato High School in 1962 he joined the Marine Corps, attended College of Marin and became a plumber with Plumbers Union Local 38 in San Francisco for 27 years. Upon retirement, Doug moved to his beloved property in Redwood Valley, close to Lake Mendocino. Doug was an excellent teacher, teaching many friends and family how to waterski. He loved his family, particularly son Steve and granddaughter Amanda. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at a later date.
