Constance Brooks Smoot
Connie Smoot passed away peacefully in her home on September 23. She is survived by her husband Cliff. Connie was the loving mother of Ron, Wendy (Chris) Harnett, Todd (Betty) and Robin. She was the grandmother of Marla, Max, Andy, Hillary and Mia.
Connie was born in Hamilton, Ohio and raised in Pennsylvania. Her family there includes sister Margaret, many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. Cliff’s sister Susi, and her three children, their spouses and children also survive her.
Connie and Cliff met at an advertising agency in Pittsburgh, Pa. They married and moved to Portland, Or. where Cliff ran a wholesale lumber business. Several years and three children later they moved to Cloverdale where Cliff took a job as Sales Manager at Molalla Forest Products. Their fourth child, Robin, was born in Santa Rosa. They lived in Cloverdale for twenty-seven years. They enjoyed life there where their children were raised and went to school. Connie joined many clubs and organizations, loved playing bridge and golf. When Cliff became a vice president with Masonite, they moved to Ukiah and have lived there twenty-four years. Connie planted and enjoyed a beautiful garden and fed and sheltered local wildlife.
At the request of Connie, the family will conduct a private celebration of her life. We would also like to thank Leah Middleton and Hospice of Ukiah for all their assistance.
