1914 - 2011

Gladys Sousa entered into rest, in her home, with loved
ones at her side, on June 13, 2011

Gladys was born in Mendocino Co. on February 25,1914
to Joseph and Elizabeth Poma. .

Gladys married Al Sousa on December 31, 1935 in Oakland,
California. The Ukiah Valley was the place where she was
a devoted homemaker and lived most of her adult life.

Gladys was a graduate of Ukiah High School, Class of 1932.
Her nick name in school was “Chakko.” She participated
in several school activities: in1929; “Play Day,” in 1931;
“Hi-Talk,” “Junior Follies,” and the “Glee Cub.”

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband,
Al Sousa, brother, Art Poma and daughter, Arlene Hughey.

Gladys is survived by her son-in-law, Norman Hughey
two grandsons: Brian Hughey, Brent (Diane) Hughey
and three great granddaughters, Alyssa, Micaela, and
Gabriella Hughey, a niece, Diane (Phil) Champion and
family, three nephews, David (Lorrie) Poma and family,
Bruce (Kathy) Poma and family, and Scott Poma. She
is also survived by numerous cousins.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, June 18, from 2 P.M.
until 4 P.M.at Eversole Mortuary. A private family service
is under the direction of Eversole Mortuary. Remembrances
in Gladys’s name may be sent to Hospice or the
American Cancer Society.
