Obituary:
Paul Gregory Standridge, 44, of Redwood Valley passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in the Los Padres National Forest. Paul was born January 8, 1969.
Paul lived 41 of his 44 years in the Ukiah area. He attended and graduated from Humboldt State University 1992 with a in BA History and Single Subject Credential.
He was a Social Studies Teacher at Pomolita Middle School.
Paul enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping, traveling, biking, Mens League and Co-ed Softball, Co-ed Rec League Volleyball, golfing and coaching baseball, basketball, volleyball and wrestling.
Paul was honored as the California League of Middle Schools Region 1 Teacher of the Year in 2009.
Paul was a wonderful husband, son, son-in-law, cousin, uncle, friend, teacher, and coach. He demonstrated compassion and love for each person that he knew. He possessed an amazing ability to make all of his acquaintance feel as if they were the most important person in the world. He was a mentor to many students and colleagues and was a leader in his field. Paul was the heart and soul of Pomolita Middle School for 19 years. He was a passionate teacher who cared deeply for his students and compelled them to recognize and realize their full potential. He was proud to have several former students become Bill Gates Scholars. As students moved on from Pauls class, many of them kept in contact with him; their relationship did not end. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 11 years Tiffany Standridge of Redwood Valley, Ca. parents Karren and Lee Standridge of Ukiah, Ca. parents-in-laws Sharron and Andrew Bland of Redwood Valley, Ca.
A funeral service with Joe Fry officiating will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, 10:00 am at the Eversole Mortuary. A separate memorial will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Pomolita Middle School Gymnasium. Everyone is welcome to both services and burial.
