Steven Kent McKenzie, 72, of Ukiah, passed away peacefully on December 10th while surrounded by his family.
Steve was born on March 23, 1950 to Truman and Norma McKenzie in Clinton, Iowa. His family then moved to California in 1956.
After graduating from Ukiah High School in 1968, Steve went on to work for the Erickson and Ford Box Company, as part of the Mendocino County Sheriff's reserve, Masonite, Georgia-Pacific, Thrifty Supply Company, and retired in 2017.
Steve enjoyed many years as an active member of the Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club, The Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) - his alias was "Lakota Kid", and going to The Caledonian Club of San Francisco's Scottish Highland Gathering and Games. He loved bagpipe music!
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Mary McKenzie, and his children Sharon Dhooghe, John McKenzie (and wife Jennifer McKenzie), and Shelli McKenzie-Rogers (and husband James Rogers). Also, by many grandchildren he loved dearly: Justin Dhooghe (and fiancé Laura), Linsey Kaser (and husband Jared), Brandon Dhooghe, Griffin McKenzie, Bretton Thomson, Sara Davis-Rogers (and wife Hannah), Megan Rogers (and fiancé Preston), Liam Rogers, and great-granddaughter Cohen Kaser. As well as by his stepmom Shirley McKenzie.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Truman Clark McKenzie, his mother, Norma Jean Komrofske, and sister, Marsha Ann McKenzie (Fay).
Services will be held at Eversole's Mortuary on December 20th, with viewing from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and funeral service from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
