Obituary:
Jessie Marie Sweet, 85, of Ukiah passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 with her family present. Jessie was born May 3, 1924 in Los Angeles, Ca. She had lived in Ukiah for the past 40 years.
Jessie worked in drafting, was an artist and did ceramic work. She was proud of painting local Christmas windows for over 30 years and her ceramics business “A Touch of Beauty”. She received recognition for working with the drafting team for the Sparrow Missile.
Jessie’s family will remember her artistic abilities and her coat of many colors she wore when painting Christmas windows.
Jessie is survived by her daughters Ricki and her husband John Hempsmyer of Ukiah, Arden and her husband David Keck of Lower Lake, Ca. son Jack and his wife Laura Whitmore of Redwood Valley, Ca. 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Harold Sweet and son John Sweet.
A heartfelt thank you to her daughter in law and care giver Laura Whitmore for her loving care these last three years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene 604 Jones St. Ukiah, Ca. with Pastor Jody Hampton officiating.
Memorial donations in Jessie’s name may be made to the Ukiah Senior Center.
