Adrian D. Swensen
A Memorial Mass will be said for Adrian D. Swensen on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Father Mike Cloney, Father Sean Rogers and Father Raul Lemus presiding. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall. Adrian passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 with his family by his side.
Born May 7, 1932 in Superior, Wisconsin, Adrian lived in Oregon, Minnesota, Idaho and Wisconsin before settling in Ukiah in 1977. He was a forester obtaining his bachelors in forestry from the University of Montana. He served in the US Air Force in Hawaii, Japan and Philippines. Adrian was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Past Grand Knight), Talmage Entertainment Club (Past President), Elks, NARFE and NRA. He was most proud of the big shop that he designed and built, making rocking horses, step stools and designing and making other wooden items. He will be remembered for pancake breakfasts, wooden crafts he designed and made, his beer stein collection, volunteering at St. Marys Mardi Gras and making things for the church. He was made an Honorary Blackfoot Chief.
Adrian is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen M. Swensen of Ukiah, daughters Susan Swensen of Ukiah, Jeanne Olmstead of Springfield, OR, Mary Swensen (Jose Lopez) and Maureen Phillips (Shawn) of Ukiah, sons David Swensen (Marisa) and Paul Swensen of Ukiah, grandchildren Melissa, Michelle, Malinda, Dakota, Michael, Christine, Rory, Amanda, Mathew, Sarah, Kyle, Renee, Trenton, Wyatt, great grandchildren Anastacia, Dominic, Jayden, Jazmyn, Marvin, Noah, Reegan, Amber, Kaden, Ayanna, Alyssa, Davin, Deegan, Drake, Allora, Mariah, Damien, Alana, Brody and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William C. Olmstead, grandson Rafael S. Lopez and great grandson Elijah Orion Cole.
Memorial contributions to St. Mary of the Angels Church, St. Mary of the Angels School, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Phoenix Hospice.
