Ina Beth Thompson
Memorial services for Ina Beth Thompson of Ukiah will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ukiah Church of Christ. Beth passed away on June 4, 2010 with her daughter Tina by her side.
Born December 16, 1936 in Junction City, Texas, she graduated from Grant High School in Sacramento in June of 1954. She moved to Ukiah in 1964 where she settled after marrying her husband Tom Thompson. She lived in Ukiah for 46 years and loved this small town. During that time she enjoyed watching her husband bowl, which was his favorite past time. But as time went on they got into CB radios and traveled to many gatherings, having fun dancing and cutting loose. As a daughter, those were times I loved watching my parents.
She loved going camping and hunting but some of her fondest memories were fishing up at Lake Pillsbury.
After her husband’s death in 1982, her main focus was her daughter and time with the church. She loved going on outings with the church youth groups.
When her daughter Tina married the man of her dreams, Donald Smith, it was one of the happiest days of her life. As time went on she decided to help her daughter finish college, so she became a full time grandma and babysat her precious grandchildren, Keenan and Jordon Smith. She spent the last years of her life enjoying the grandma life and watching her granddaughter practicing cheerleading for her and her grandson growing up and finding his place in life.
In the last few months of her life, she always kept that positive attitude and was a fighter up until the end. I visited her every day and each day she greeted me with a smile. When I asked how she was, it was always the same response, “Doing good”. She would visit with her family and enjoyed the time she got to spend with her great grandchild, Logan Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Thompson, her brother Keith Busby and her parents Hugh and Jewel Busby.
She leaves her daughter Tina and husband Donald Smith, her two grandchildren Keenan and Jordon Smith and her great grandson Logan Smith.
Memorial contributions to Hospice of Ukiah are preferred.
