DENNIS LEE THYGESEN, Ukiah, California
Born October 22, 1941 in Aurora, IL, Dennis Lee Thygesen died after a brief illness on July 13, 2018 at home in Ukiah, CA, at the age of 76, with his family around him. A Real Estate and Mortgage Agent/Broker for 48 years in Mendocino County, he was also an importer/wholesaler of Italian wines in recent years. A graduate of Downers Grove, IL High School, and Southern Illinois University (BA, MA, History/Economics), he also completed post graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
A loving husband and father and a kind friend, he was a certified solo pilot, and a lifetime Amateur Radio Operator (WO6A). A lifetime historian, he was proud to work on a history of Coyote Valley before the dam, a research project of the U.S Army Corp. of Engineers and Sonoma State University. As a real estate broker he facilitated the sale of Hunters Lagoon, Manchester to the California State Parks. A lover of Italian culture, he spent many years traveling to Italy to study its language and history, and was a proud member of NBICF of Santa Rosa.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Lane Thygesen, Ukiah; daughter Erica Lee Thygesen (Matt), Portland, OR; son Brian Carl (Mariana), and granddaughters Lillian (6) and Maia (4) Thygesen, Denver, CO; his brother Clifford (Lynn) Thygesen, Boulder, CO, and 19 nieces/nephews (including grands and great-grands). He was predeceased by his father Irving Thygesen and mother Hazel Marie Thygesen, of Downers Grove, IL.
