(May 21, 1937 to December 07, 2020
)
Resident of
Redwood Valley, California
Obituary:
On December 7 Alex Tournour left us suddenly while doing what he loved - working outside on a project.
Born Alessandro in Gravere, Italy on May 22, 1937 he came to the U.S. in 1956 with his family. He is predeceased by his wife Emma Jean Tournour. He leaves behind his brother Gil Tournour and wife Lorena, niece Sherise Tournour-Bushby and husband Gordon Bushby and his family, nephew Gil A. Tournour and wife Sonja and their families. Cousins in Morgan Hill, George and Gene Guglielmo and their families. There are many from Emmas side that refer to him as Uncle Alex but he will be especially missed by Emmas daughter Shirley Alleman, granddaughter Tabitha Cuadra-Sias and her family and great grandson Alex Sias and his children.
One of Alexs greatest pleasures was living in Redwood Valley and farming his two acres of zinfandel grapes. Every day was a new day to find work outside and then complete those tasks.
Back in the old country he remembers working with livestock and hay in the mountains of Northern Italy, as well as tending to the family vineyard.
In the US, he worked for wineries his entire career and in the early 1960s he served in the U.S. Army. He has wonderful memories of working on the Army ski patrol in Germany and he enjoyed skiing the Sierra mountains after returning home.
Alex appreciated spending time with family and friends and he greeted everyone with a smile.
He had a huge heart and a strong voice he would often surprise us at gatherings by standing up and singing Italian songs a cappella.
He enters into final rest in the Veterans section of the Ukiah Cemetery with a graveside service at 1 pm on Monday December 14th. There will be a private family viewing the day before and a celebration of life at a future date.
