Obituary:
Jaime Zavala Vargas, 63, of Ukiah passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Jaime was born June 25, 1950 in El Varal de Cabrera Municipio de Abasolo, Mexico. He was a local residence for 43 years.

Jaime worked in agriculture and landscaping for many years. He was most proud of his children and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, singing, spending time with family and traveling.

Jaime will be remembered by his family and friends as having a huge heart, sense of humor, having great cooking skills, having a green thumb and his love of family. He would often say “Gracias por viajar en Grey Hound” for a funny way of thanking people in Spanish.

Jaime is survived by his daughters Susie Thompson of Redwood Valley and Lorena Vargas of Ukiah, sons Gilberto Vargas of Ukiah and Pedro Vargas of Willits, sisters Elvira Vargas-Espitia, Amalia Vargas, Petra Vargas-Barajas and Maria Vargas-Munoz, brothers Manuel Vargas, Jesus Vargas, Javier Vargas, Luis Vargas and Raymundo Vargas, grandchildren Angel Vargas, Francisco Noriega, Juliana Noriega, Elena Vargas, Alexis Vargas, Gilberto Vargas, Jayden Vargas, Lucero Vargas, Stella Vargas, Vanessa Thompson, Christopher Thompson and Sienna Thompson. Jaime was preceded in death by his brother Gilberto Vargas, his father Esiquio Vargas and mother Refujio Zavala-Espitia

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 12, from 12-9 pm at the Eversole Mortuary with a Rosary being held at 8pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11am at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church with burial following at the Ukiah Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Eversole Mortuary.
