Rufina Wall-Jackson passed away peacefully on September 14, 2011 in Ukiah, CA surrounded by her loving nieces. She was the youngest child of Andrew Jackson and Mollie Wright on July 16, 1938. She graduated from Ukiah High School in 1956 and graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College as a registered nurse.
She was employed at Talmage State Hospital until it closed, Napa State Hospital, and Santa Rosa Community Hospital until her retirement. She had a passion for teaching and nursing was a big part of her life; she began teaching nursing classes at Santa Rosa Junior College and student teaching at Memorial Hospital. After finally retiring from nursing, she began tutoring ESL children in the Rincon Valley school district.
Rufina will always be remembered by how she loved and cherished her family. She never had children of her own, but was blessed with many nieces and nephews, was a phrase she always said. Throughout her lifetime, she helped raise numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. She was a strong and vivacious woman who fought breast cancer and became a survivor. She loved attending concerts, plays and operas. But her most favorite thing to do was to go camping with her family.
Rufina is survived by her sisters Kate Jackson of Ukiah and Nancy Young of Oregon, nieces Martha Knight and Sandra Avila of Ukiah, and nephew James Jackson of Pacifica and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
