)
Resident of

Obituary:
Gwen B. Ward
Gwen was born in Hastings, Nebraska on 8/18/18 and died in Santa Barbara, California on 11/13/17 at the age of 99.
Her mother died when Gwen was just two years of age and her father a few years later. Gwen and her siblings were raised by relatives.
She moved to Long Beach, California as a young woman and eventually married a local dentist, Dr. Allan Ward.
She was a voracious reader and a quick learner who gradually became an accomplished photographer, office manager, and elegant hostess.
She was an indispensable, extremely dedicated, partner and wife during her long marriage to Dr. Ward. Despite having no children of her own, she excelled at motherhood with his only child, Pamela. Upon retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Ward moved to Ukiah to be with Pam and her family.
Kind, gracious, humble, and exceedingly unselfish, she was loved and admired by her extended family and all of those with whom she came in daily contact.
Increasingly frail in her later years, she remained cheerful despite pain, immobility, blindness, and marked hearing loss. Then, less than a year before her 100th birthday, confident in her faith, she passed away quickly and peacefully after a major stroke.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Ward twelve years ago. All of her siblings, Neta Madison, Beth Vollmer, and Aaron Bagley are also deceased.
She is survived by her step-daughter Pamela (Paul) Jepson, grandchildren Erik (Helene) Jepson, Jill Jepson, and Amanda (Mark) Jepson Hedges, and great-grandchildren Hannah and Isaac Hedges and Astrid Jepson.
She is also survived by nieces Nancy Leuder, Kay Coop, and Michlle Kingsbury, Linda Morgan and Heidi Healy.
Arrangements were made by Eversole Mortuary. At her request, there will be no memorial services.
