Obituary:
Harlan Welch, 83, of Ukiah passed away August 2, 2013 at his daughters home in Hopland, Ca. with his family present. Harlan was born May 21, 1930 in Whittier,
Ca. Harlan was a 64 year resident of Ukiah.
Harlan served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in hardware sales for local businesses such as Portlock Hardware and most recent for Mendo Mill & Lumber Co. in Ukiah. He was always being honored for his excellent services at work but was most proud if he caught the biggest fish of the day.
Harlan was a member of the Ukiah Gun Club and the Ukiah Cannibal Club. He was a Deacon in his church and performed many volunteer duties. His family will remember all of his grand fishing stories, the 30 pound Salmon and the giant one that got away. Harlan was a dedicated man to his wife, his family, his faith and his work. He would say All ways believe and trust in the Lord He will guide you through.
Harlan is survived by his daughters Denise Steinbrenner of Hopland, Ca. and Debbie McOsker of Ukiah, Ca. sister Betty Marks of Chico, Ca., grandchildren Kristy Arnold, Alison Shields of Hopland, Gaylen McOsker of Redwood Valley, Jeremy McOsker, Remo McOsker of Ukiah, step grandchildren Brian Steinbrenner of Long Beach, Ca. and Bob Steinbrenner of Portland, Or., great grandchildren Andrew, Kaylee and Christopher Miller, Sophia Shields and Makana McOsker. Harlan was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Jane Welch.
A graveside service will be held at the Ukiah Cemetery on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
