Obituary:
Kathryn Kay Whittaker, 91, of Tonopah, Nevada passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Kay was born February 25, 1918 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Kay had lived in Potter Valley, Ca. for 58 years and the last 30 years in Tonopah, NV. She was a Rancher and also worked for the Department of Forestry in Nye Co. Nevada.
Kay was proud of her Faith, her daughter Sharon and her grandsons Eric and James and also her garden. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Sigma Phi Sorority. She was awarded Nye County Senior of the Year. Kay will be remembered as being everyones Grandma Kay.
She loved to teach and work with children in Sabbath School providing nature classes. She loved playing cards, board games with her family, knitting and gardening. She would sneak a piece of chocolate even though she was allergic to it.
Kay is survived by her sister Eva Moody of John Day, Or., grandchildren James W. Miller of Tonopah, Nv., David Eric Miller and his wife Mary of Livermore, Ca., great grandchildren Jennifer, Tammy and William Barnes of Livermore, Ca. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Whittaker, daughter Sharon Miller, parents John & Jessie Furber and her sisters Lenore, Alice and Betty
A graveside service at the Potter Valley Cemetery will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Hawks officiating. A reception at the Seventh Day Adventist Church will follow the graveside service.
