Memorial services will be held at a later date for William Reed Robinson “Robbie” who passed away in Santa Rosa on Monday, December 19, 2022 with family by his side. Born December 6, 1929 in La Grange, Georgia, Robbie spent his early years in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. He graduated from Heflin High School and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, was part of the Point Arena SOFAR Research Station and served on the destroyer Earnest G. Small. A resident of Point Arena since 1950, Robbie was an employee of the Manchester Creamery until he secured a position as the Postmaster in Point Arena commissioned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. He retired from Gualala Post Office in the early 1990’s. Robbie received numerous awards including 40 years of government service in the Navy (4) and as Postmaster (36), Melvin Jones fellow, PTA Oakleaf award, Multiple District 4 Lion of the Year and Boosters Club Sportsman of the year. Robbie married Vikki Herrera in 1977. He was a Member of Lions clubs International for 65 years, was a volunteer fireman and Fire Commissioner, Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster earning the prestigious Silver Beaver award, coached little league and high school softball, umpired high school sports, managed the clocks for high school football, volleyball and basketball teams and was a member of the men’s basketball sports league. Robbie was proud of his love and devotion to his family and being a University of Alabama graduate and playing football in the Cotton Bowl “Roll Tide”! He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, love of sports, animals, the outdoors, camping, water skiing, abalone diving, the joy of helping others and his love of music as Robbie and the Drifters Band also known as “Rockin Robbie”. Robbie is survived by his wife Vikki, daughters Marcy, Jennifer and Jeanine, sons Donny, David and Jim, sisters Janice, Ruby and Mary Ann, brothers Fred, Wayne, James, Grover and Mitchell, numerous grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother Gearlene parents Robert and Bessie, brothers Cecil and Herman and sister Dorothy (Dot).
