Jo Ann Bailey Wyant
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jo Ann Bailey Wyant of Boonville on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 1 pm at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds Apple Hall Auditorium in Boonville. Visitation will be at Eversole Mortuary on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 1 to 8 pm. Jo Ann passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Ukiah.
Born February 16, 1937 in Pampa, Texas she had lived in the Boonville area for the past 43 years. Jo Ann was a mother and homemaker working part-time until her children were in school and eventually full-time for the US Postal Service in Boonville and Philo for nearly 25 years. She was a member of Rebekahs Lodge, Grange, Lioness. She was a Cub Scout leader, 4-H advisor and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in sports and recreation. She loved to write poetry, sing in the chorus and perform in local amateur productions. She was most proud of her family.
Jo Ann will be remembered for her generosity, kind and gentle spirit, love of laughter and for being a cheerleader for the underdog. She truly believed everyone had goodness within them and she always tried desperately to find it. Her favorite quote; You can catch more bees with honey than vinegar.
Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Franklin Wyant, daughters Cathy L Keech (Frank) of Ukiah, Renee D. Lee (Keving) of Boonville, sons Richard A. Wyant (Schevillea) of Boonville, Bryan T. Wyant (Elizabeth) of Boonville, sister Linda Birchfield of Waxahachie, Texas, brother Dan Bailey (Jean) of Shasta Lake, California, grandchildren Jennifer Caudillo (Jason) of Ukiah, Clinton Wyant (Billie) of Ukiah Derek Wyant of Boonville, Ashley Wyant of Philo, Trevor Gunby of Ukiah, Garrett and Drake Mezzanatto of Boonville, great grandchildren, Bailey and Isabelle Caudillo, James Clarke, Connor Wyant all of Ukiah and Aaliyah Byrd of Philo.
